Burberry Campaign

Agyness Deyn seems to be working on many projects these days. Rumor has it that she is also involved in a film project.  The hot blonde from DNA models recently had a Agyness mannequin made in her likeness, appeared on numerous magazine covers including a spot on the V September Issue, editorials and trendy campaigns.

Anya from ANTM Wins after Losing

Through the last few episodes of last seasons ANTM, I gotta say I was rooting for my girl Anya. Anya Anya KopRozova AKA Anya Kop as she was called on the show is just so gorgeous and I have to admit she had what seemed like a great personality from what I saw on America’s Next Top Model.

It’s definitely no surprise that she got snatched up by Elite Model Management as soon as the show ended. From what I read, Elite picks up a few of the “losers” each season and the ANTM losers end up winners all around, signed to one of the top modeling agencies on the planet, Elite.

From Fashion Model: Losing on America’s Next Top Model may in fact be better than winning. Seems, if you lose you may get the modeling contracts just that much faster. Two of last season’s losers got snatched up by Elite as soon as they went off the show and I am hoping that the other girls got snatched up by other modeling agencies.

Anya Rozova, or Anya Kop ANTM last season is now signed with Elite, and we may see much more of her in the near future as the agency starts booking her. Anya, Now back to being a brunette says the blonde hair color that America’s Next Top Model gave her was a bit hard for her to keep up and I for one think she looks much better as a brunette than the ANTM look of “bleached blonde”. I loved her on the show and was hoping she would win it. I am glad Anya still came out a modeling winner with a very coveted spot with Elite post ANTM.

here’s some commentary from a news report..

“Each season Elite plucks non-winners from the ANTM cast. Rozova’s former housemate and competitor, Katarzyna Dolinska, was signed “the second she lost.” “Last season was a great batch,” Covarrubias added. “Whitney’s kicking butt, Anya’s kicking butt, Katarzyna’s kicking butt. We’re doing really well with the three girls we ended up with.”

Did Naomi really say this?

hmm, I gotta wonder. Naomi Campbell has been getting into a bit of trouble this last year or two. She threw a phone at her housekeeper and Naomi spat on a police officer. I guess she had to attend anger management for those and another report I read states she had to clean up some trash

Anyway, another modeling blog has her as saying the following…
She says that sweeping rubbish changed her life! ‘I find solace in sweeping,’ she also said ‘I have the time to think.’

So her life has now been changed.

Valentinos new vision after big daddy retires

VALENTINO’S NEW VISION After the retirement and 45 years of fashion

Now that Valentino is retired the company may turn toward another direction, a hipper, younger and yes, cheaper line. Not sure if this means more commercial and a bit less couture, I guess we shall see what the new management and design team rolls out.

They do have plans that include doubling sales, attracting many new clients and plenty of expansions.

VALENTINO is rolling with the momentum of last year’s changes – its takeover by private equity firm Permira in July, and the retirement of its founding father – to push the business onwards and upwards – and attract a younger, more trend-focused clientèle to the brand.

Sassi has announced broad-ranging expansion plans, which include doubling sales and tripling accessories sales over the next five years – but the most intriguing action point is its desire to attract a new kind of Valentino woman, under the leadership of the house’s new head of design, Alessandra Facchinetti.

“When Valentino was still around, everything was done to support the designer and his needs, and now we’re doing the same for the current design team and their new vision,” Sassi tells WWD. “The only way to woo a trendier and more price-conscious clientele is with younger looks with more accessible price points.” (May 12 2008, AM)

If anyone missed the retirement, here is the New York Times article about the retirement of Valentino after an absolute lifetime in fashion and the tanning bed…

AS happens with most final acts, Valentino Garavani’s career was over before it could be fully absorbed. On Wednesday night, at the Rodin Museum, he closed the spring 2008 haute couture collections and at the same time ended 45 years in fashion. The models wore identical red dresses for the finale, so that the room seemed bathed in his favorite color. The audience stood, the applause started, and Valentino walked briskly to the end of the runway, dry-eyed and tanned from a ski holiday in Gstaad.

One of the locomotives of Valentino’s career, and that as well of his partner, Giancarlo Giammetti, was that he allowed the media — and, by extension, the public — to see how lavishly he lived, whether in Rome, London or Gstaad. Although he regarded himself as a serious-minded designer, trained in Paris, few of his contemporaries seemed to derive as much pleasure from their lives. It showed in the clothes he made.

As the milliner Philip Treacy, who did the hats for the final show, said, “He’s the only designer who lived the life that people think designers should live.”

Yet many of the television and wire-service reporters gathered behind ropes outside the Rodin, or jamming into the backstage area afterward, were not there for the story. They were there for the sound bite. Stopping Mr. Giammetti backstage, a television reporter said, her voice rising for effect: “Tonight’s the final show for you and Mr. Valentino. How do you think it went?”

The smile on his face could not be read positively. “Very well,” Mr. Giammetti replied, looking in the direction of Valentino and the mob of photographers around him. “Very good.”

A temptation to say only the obvious and the necessary was precisely what the final bow of Valentino elicited, and to that extent it felt scripted. Last July, in Rome, Valentino and Mr. Giammetti celebrated the company’s 45th anniversary with an incredible weekend-long party. In a way, Marie-Chantal of Greece said, that was the real send-off. She was with her husband, Pavlos, and her in-laws, the former monarchs of Greece. “I think Rome was the big finale, and I’m seeing tonight as a little get-together,” she said.

Gianni Versace Fall 1993 and Michael Kors and Naomi Campbell

Time warp to 1993 Gianni Versace with some Michael Kors(project runway) towards the end.  Naomi Campbell is in the height of her runway career here and looks amazing. Its so odd for some reason to go 15 years back through fashion time. There are 2 ways most people see these old shows, either hip and back in or completely outdated. Flared pants and stripes seem to be all the rage here.

Versace’s 1993 fall collection, with Naomi Campbell, Yasmeen Ghauri, Carla Bruni etc.  Michael Kors collection with Naomi Campbell towards the end.

too boney to model?

So I run across this pic, love the fashion but the first thing to catch my gaze  are the bones sticking out of her chest. This pic reminds me of something out of the Alien movie, creature poking out. It may just be the angle, but this models upper chest is gross, skinny is in, skeleton poking through skin is not. I just heard about a show sending models away for being too thin, I guess they do not like the “please feed me or I may die this second” look either.

Someone stick a cheeseburger in that lovely ladies mouth. I really just think clothes look better on a model when she does not look ill. The bags under the eyes do not help the starved look either.
